Curly or Figured White Oak



Finding beautiful figure in White Oak is somewhat rare in that it only happens in around 1% of the White Oak trees that are cut. It can range from a subtle figure, to a strong wavy appearance to even a blistered or quilted appearance. The sapwood of this species is a white to light cream color and the heartwood is a greenish to darker tan color. Sometimes the intensity of White Oak figure can change just by changing the angle the light is hitting it which can make it difficult to get a good picture of at times. White Oak is one of the densest domestic hardwoods and is heavy in heft and can really take abuse well. All the selections are kiln dried, trimmed to remove all end cracks or checking and sealed to prevent moisture re-absorption.
