Curly or Figured Red Oak



Finding beautiful figure in Red Oak is somewhat rare in that it only happens in around 1% of the red oak trees that are cut. It can range from a subtle figure to a strong wavy appearance to even a blistered or quilted appearance. The sapwood of this species is a white to light cream color, and the heartwood is a reddish brown to darker tan color. Sometimes the intensity of Red Oak figure can change just by changing the angle the light is hitting it which can make it difficult to get a good picture of at times. All the selections are kiln dried, trimmed to remove all end cracks or checking and sealed to prevent moisture re-absorption.
