There is a 2" wide streak of heartwood running down the center of the second face on both pieces that is less than 1/4" deep at the ends. Surfaced two face and very nicely figured. Both pieces have some wane along one edge of the pictured face that reduces the usable width to 6". One piece has two worm holes on the pictured face.
