There is an area of heartwood that goes diagonally across both pieces from the lower right hand corner to the upper left hand corner of the bottom piece and the opposite on the top piece that is a few shades darker than the sapwood. Surfaced four sides and packed with tight gorgeous figure.There are also some burls and swirls along the outside edge that will all fall as waste during forming.
