Up to this time I have been posting Luthier material on my Private Stock page. Since we have been getting more and more request for this type of material it would save time and make more sense to list them separately. As on my Private Stock page a link to the picture of the material listed is found by clicking the name of the selection in the list below.
All of our Luthier material is custom sorted from the very best figure and quality wood available from our extensive inventory. After almost 40 years working with figured hardwoods this is the part of my job that I enjoy the most. This is because I get to see and process the very best Nature has to offer in figured hardwoods. It never ceases to amaze me of the beauty that I see presented before me when I find material such as the one pictured above. Finding the very best material does take considerable effort and cost and I find it is not getting any easier as time goes on.
All the material listed below is sapwood two face, surfaced four sides and kiln dried to 6% - 8% moisture content. It is free of defects such as knots, splits or cracks and wane unless otherwise stated in the Graders Notes below. All the maple listed below is either Eastern Red Maple or Eastern Hard Maple and is slab sawn unless otherwise stated.
